Why You Deserve Better

Wise words to help get over heartbreak.

Why You Deserve Better

Oh heartbreak, the bane of all of our existences. There are so many ways to get past it, but here are a few wise words that I've found to be true over the past few years.

You deserve better than settling for friendships with fake people.

Quit wasting your time on people who would rather pretend to be your friend instead of actually being one. There are so many people in this world that would be honored to love you for who you are, instead of using you to their advantage, or simply "putting up with you."

You deserve better than surrounding yourself with people who are trying to change you.

If someone can't accept you for who you are, are they really worth keeping in your life? No.

You deserve better than constantly putting yourself down.

Love yourself for who you are and for Christ's sake, quit talking badly about yourself. Once you start doing this, you poison your mind with useless and untrue statements about yourself until you actually start to believe them.

You deserve better than having to chase someone who wants nothing to do with you.

Not only can this lead to heartbreak and constant let downs, but sooner or later you might start to believe that no one will ever want you. Realize that this is not true and get rid of this person. They're not worth it, so why keep them around?

You deserve better than to have to compete for someone's love or attention.

If someone has to pick between you or someone else, take initiative and win by pulling yourself from this sick and twisted competition. No one deserves to be second best when it comes to relationships.

You deserve better than having to settle.

Why should you have to settle for less than you deserve? Fear of being rejected is normal, but don't let it control your entire existence.

You deserve better than lowering your self respect to satisfy someone else. This is pretty much self explanatory.

You deserve better than being replaceable to someone.

If it's that easy for them to get rid of you, were you really worth it to them in the long run? These people suck.

You deserve better than giving someone multiple second chances.

We all know that they don't deserve them. Cut this person loose for good before your decisions start affecting you. They don't deserve the benefit of the doubt anymore.

You deserve better than lying to yourself. Quit trying to sugarcoat things and actually face your problems. You'll be a heck of a lot happier.

You deserve better than constantly trying to get revenge.

Quit wasting your time trying to ruin this person's life and focus on bettering yourself instead. Odds are that they'll be pretty miserable when they realize how bad they messed up. If they aren't, then they didn't deserve you in the first place.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
