Why You Are Attracted To Certain Traits
Forbes

While staring down that attractive person from across the way, listing either in your head or to your buddies all the attractive qualities about them, do you ever wonder quite why those things make them attractive? It call all be traced back to evolution, even though we are evolving, our choice in partners can be reasoned by discussing survival. I studied this through physiology for years, learning different reasons for being attracted to certain traits.

1. Physic

Whether you like someone that looks like they hit the gym or someone who hits the buffet table, you find their physic attractive due to your survival instincts. Finding someone who is fit and toned attractive is due to your need for someone who can protect you from anything threatening. If you find someone who is plus sized attractive it is because in the back of your mind you know that this person could always provide food for you (in many ancient cultures this was a symbol of wealth and found very attractive).

2. Eyes

This is split into two different categories: size and color. Men find women attractive due to eye size either due to youth or maturity. If you like your girl to have eye makeup on that makes her eyes look like saucers it is because you are attracted to the youth that infers she still has many eggs, and many chances for you to produce offspring. Finding someone with smaller eyes attractive is evidence of your interest in a woman being mature to better care for your offspring; she would be wiser and better suited to properly care for your children. Eye color is the other category. Different eye colors see different spectrums of light and colors. The ability to see things you do not gives your partner an edge to see possible danger before you.

3. Facial Features

If you like a strong facial features (jaw line, nose, etc.), you are attracted to the masculinity of that person. This goes back to the ability to protect you from any possible dangers. Being attracted to a person with soft features stems from a need to protect–this is most commonly found in men.

4. Height

Height goes along with the same mentality, the taller they are the stronger you perceive them. After that, whether you want to be protect, protect, or find someone who will be able to protect your offspring at the same quality you can depends on you.

5. Large Butts

Most of the general population is attracted to a round behind. This is because your butt is made of two things: body fat and muscle. It is thanks to our butt that humans are such good runners; we can run the longest out of any animal. So it is only logical that the larger your butt muscles the faster and longer you can run. The longer and faster you can run the better hunter you become, therefore being able to provide food for your family. The ability to provide food is a very attractive quality, if I do say so myself.

6. Personality

For those of you that say personalities are the most important thing and do not really care about physical appearance, I did not forget that you do indeed exist. Personality is something that you look for due to evolution–although this is slightly more modern. Personality in modern times can decide where you end up in life. Your children often inherit your personality, so we often look for people we hope our children will take after and become profitable in life.

I hope this helped you look at the way you find people attractive from a different light. Next time you see a cutie, try to actually think about why you find them attractive. Try to avoid saying, “Just because I like the way they look, they’re cute!” If you have any questions, comments or rude remarks, feel free to leave one!

Tschüss!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
