Why Yes, You Can Wear Birkenstocks In Fall And Winter

Getting dressed in the morning can be a stressful task for some people. What to wear? Is it cold outside? Raining? Snow? The answer typically influences whatever outfit you are going to wear today. And let’s face it, you don’t want to be like Becky and change your outfit seven times a day. Yes, Becky, we noticed. As for how to look cute in whatever weather you’re blessed with, I would not come to me for fashion advice. Dependability and versatility are what I tend to gravitate towards in fashion.

Is it comfortable? Can I wear it any and every day if I want to? If the answer is “yes” then you have found an item in my wardrobe. The arguably most dependable piece in my closet are my Birkenstocks. If you don’t have a pair, then, my dear friend, you must get one! I will say I avoided getting Birkenstocks for a long time due to most of my friends having them and their price tag. After finding them on sale last fall for $99, I broke down and bought a pair.

If you have never owned Birks or have never seen a pair (although I am sure most of you have), I will explain. Birkenstock is a shoe company that mainly sells sandals and is based in Germany. There are many different styles of Birkenstocks, but my favorite are these.

Now by the title I am sure you are wondering if I am crazy for wearing these year-round, and I will tell you that yes, I am crazy, but it has nothing to do with the shoes. Once I bought them last fall, they took some time to break in. I won’t lie, those first two weeks sucked. I mean it was bad and I almost gave up. Because I had spent so much on them and all my friends raved about how comfortable they were, I decided to endure.

Buying these shoes have been probably one of the wisest financial decisions I have made. I have worn these Birkenstocks almost every day for a year now and they are still in great shape. I did not wear them in the winter when I lived in Idaho, simply because my toes would have gotten frostbite from walking through three feet of snow in them.

Now that I am living in Salem, I have worn them every day. Sun or rain, my Birkenstocks have not failed me. These shoes go with everything. Once the leather forms to your feet, they become the most comfortable shoes you will own. They have great traction, and if they break, Birkenstocks sell all the parts to their shoes and provide companies that will fix them. This means that once you buy a pair, you can practically wear them the rest of your life.

To sum it up, I love my Birkenstocks and I think you will too. There are so many styles and colors to choose from, so you can definitely find a pair that will fit your personality and needs. You can wear them all year-round depending on where you live, and they are so comfortable you might not want to take them off.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
