Why WSU is the Best College in Washington

Paul Allen went to WSU.

He is the co-founder of Microsoft and the owner of the Seattle Seahawks and the Portland Blazers. He was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and he didn't choose any other Washington schools, so just saying… And to whoever that says WSU students will end up working at McDonalds: can you repeat that?

The school spirit is unbeatable.

If you are wearing a cougs sweatshirt roaming around Seattle then don't be surprised if you get a “go cougs" from someone next to you. Win or loose, the school spirit will forever live on. WSU students are not Debby downers (win or loose still got booze).

The Dunes.

Fun summer spots like the dunes can't be found anywhere else. There are no other schools with that many college students from the same school gathered around to have fun together. It's a great spot before the weather gets cold to take a break from school.

10 minutes away from Idaho.

If you ever get tired of Washington then drive 10 minutes and you are in Moscow, Idaho. What other Washington schools can say that? University of Idaho is also 10 minutes away so if the fun ever stops at WSU (which it won't), just hop on over to U of I.

Everything is walking distance.

Everything you need on campus is walking distance, the campus is the perfect size that whenever you need something, a car is not necessary. The stadium, the gym, classrooms are all smacked right in the middle of campus.

Greek Row is basically on campus.

Unlike some other schools, WSU's greek row is literally on campus. If you are looking to have some fun, you don't need to worry about parking and where to spend the night. It is very likely that you live 10 minutes away from all the parties.

Drunkchies on Greek Row.

Tin Tan Tacos, Pita Pit, Jimmy Johns, and Dominos. WSU's Greek row's got it all. If you are ever drunk and got those drunkchies then walk two steps and the food will be in your belly.

Tanning salon on campus.

This is for the ladies. If you are ever feeling a little pale, you can roll out of bed and take a scroll to the tanning salon. 2 minutes away from a summer glow.

The view.

Nothing can beat the view of WSU. The beautiful sunsets, at the top of Thompson flats will give you the picture perfect picture.

It's a vacation.

The distance from Pullman to Seattle is the perfect distance for wanting to get away. You are basically in Idaho, which can make you feel like you are out of state with a great price of an in-state tuition. It's the perfect getaway from the crowded city.

The people.

Once a coug, always a coug. There are always other cougs out there in the working world that is willing to help out another fellow coug. It's just the amazing bonded community and mindset of WSU students and alumni.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
