Writing has a deep connection within me. I have always taken to the pen with my thoughts and writing has been my solace for my life struggles. I have always taken to it in times of need and desperation. My journey to writing for Odyssey has been a journey of self growth.
I can remember getting and writing in my first dairy in elementary school. Once I got to middle school, I discovered the abilities of the internet. It it was good on the part of I learned how to use spam email, to annoy people on MSN Messenger, and unfortunately create a Facebook account.
But with my middle school internet misadventures I also learned to blog. I started my first blog when I was thirteen. I used almost daily to write my feeling and my every day to day thoughts. I kept it going for a long time. My first blog was written under an anonymous name, because I feared being truly known. I fear to allow people to see my true thoughts and ideas. This fear lead to me to delete all the content and the blog in itself as well. I stop writing on online platforms and went back to journaling on paper. I still had kept a dairy throughout the years while blogging, but they weren't the same.
In high school I stopped writing for a year. I really don't know why, but I didn't feel the need until an event in my life gave me need to again. I have always found it odd how people can go back to things without thinking like riding a bike. That is how picking up writing again was for me.
For a graduation gift I was given a new journal. On it, it has written "start something new." This journal was given by a former teacher of mine who has always given spark to my adventures. I sought with this journal and college a new adventure. This adventure lead me to Odyssey.
If a person has a voice which they feel is meant to be heard, let it, with Odyssey. There is a community for everyone. I encourage all to give it a chance if they so wish.
