And why you should, too.

Why I Write For Odyssey

It's been popping up all over your newsfeed on Facebook for a while now; those well written articles, so relatable to your daily life that you decide to tag a distant friend, your boyfriend, maybe even your mom and share it with them. You've probably begun to notice they are all from a website called Odyssey.

I love writing articles for Odyssey. I love seeing an article I spent hours or maybe days working on, shared on Facebook. All my hard work paid off, and I can't help but feel as though my work touched someone in some way and made a difference in their life. Whether it's news related, something funny or a personal open letter, I love writing something people take time out of their day to read.

Publishing something I created is the biggest reward. I don't write for Odyssey in hopes that my article goes viral and gets recognition; I write for Odyssey in hopes that my writing reminds people they are not alone, makes their gloomy day a little better and lastly, in hopes someone will appreciate the time and effort that not only myself, but my entire team puts into their articles.

If you only want a reward for your writing, Odyssey is not for you. If you only want to become famous after a viral article, Odyssey is not for you. And, if you want to acquire more Facebook friends or followers because of your articles then Odyssey is not for you.

However, if you want to introduce your writing to the world, if you want to work with a team of writers who are just as passionate as you are, and last but not least, want a creative outlet, that is a safe place to express yourself and to get your voice heard:

Odyssey is for you.

"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." –Maya Angelou

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
