“Donald Trump is a crook, but he’s an honest crook” was something my father told me even before Trump announced he would run for president. At the time, I only saw this as a joke. “He won’t actually run for president,” I told myself. The political arena is not somewhere I envisioned Trump participating. Now that it is some years later and Trump is leading in the polls for the Republican ballot, I won't be voting for him.
Trump said, "if I become president, we're all going to be saying Merry Christmas again, that I can tell you." While I am a Christian, I firmly believe that Christ never promised the world we live in would be Christian, nor would it follow Christian principles. Romans 12:12 tells us “do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is -- his good, pleasing and perfect will.” We are to be in this world but not of this world. Sharing the Gospel and truth of Jesus does not come from stepping on the religions of our neighbors.
As with the issue of the diversity of religions in our society, Trump admittedly doesn’t acquaint himself with most of the other issues. “Trump didn’t know what the nuclear triad was when asked in December’s debate, nor in November’s debate that China wasn’t a party to the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which is intended to counter that country’s economic influence. (The nuclear triad is the doomsday force of land-based missiles, long-range bombers, and submarine-launched missiles that the President can order and use if America is attacked)," according to the moderatevoice.com.
Someone that does not know how to hold his tongue and says what everyone else is thinking is not someone that should be running our country. Saying everything you think is rarely ever a great thing. We need a leader that is aware of the issues at hand, that is prepared to speak with truth, compassion, and boldness, not ignorance.
