Why Do Women Hate Each Other?

The world may never know...

Why Do Women Hate Each Other?

“Jackie O was absolutely beautiful.”

“Nah, I think her eyes are too close together on her face.”

It’s amazing, isn’t it? The little things that girls find wrong with each other. This conversation was between two of my roommates and it made me think…Why do women hate each other so much?

The answer? No reason.

Women will find the smallest things wrong with one another to make themselves feel some sort of security or power over another woman. No matter how old you get, your hair, body, love life, job, makeup, wardrobe, everything has to be better than another woman’s. We as a gender could be watching the Victoria’s Secret fashion show just tearing those women apart and for what? So that we can feel a little better about ourselves for a minute? We neglect to remember that every woman is beautiful in her own way. We forget that it doesn’t matter what another woman’s body weight is, or what brand of makeup she is using, if any. We constantly demean other women because we get so insecure about the thought of someone else being “better” than we are. In reality: it doesn’t matter.

As women, we should be standing together making each other feel loved and feel beautiful. Instead of calling other women demeaning things, we should be lifting each other’s spirits. We catch enough judgement from men that we don’t need to listen to it from women too. Think about all of those drunk women in the bathroom at a bar you’ve met. They are always all too quick to give you endless compliments about how you look. “Omg you’re so pretty. How are you so sweaty and you still look this good?” That should be women all the time!

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you are “better” than another woman. Everyone in this world is beautiful and successful in their own ways. Instead of nitpicking what we see wrong with each other, we should find the positive aspects of each other. Once women find all that is beautiful within each other, I believe this harsh, judgmental world will get a lot better. And always remember...

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.
