Why I Will Always Wear Makeup

For myself, not other people.

There is a never ending amount of feedback regarding makeup. Most of it is very negative, people saying that it’s unnecessary and puts an unreachable standard on girls. They say that us girls don’t need to wear it to look beautiful, and that is very true. The reality is, most people wear makeup for themselves, because it makes themselves feel good, not because they think they need it to be beautiful or to impress a guy. However, for myself, I wear makeup for a lot of reasons.

1. It gives me a creative outlet.

Yes, I could paint or draw, write or knit but doing my makeup is so much more fun. Experimenting with different brands, colors, finishes, it is truthfully an art. Finding what colors work for my face and what eyeshadows bring out my eyes, it’s an adventure.

2. It is so beautifully packaged.

Okay, I won’t lie, I’m that girl that buys makeup because the packaging is gorgeous and I just want to stare at it. I don’t even need to use it, I mean I do, but I could just look at brand new makeup and be completely content.

3. Makeup covers up my imperfections.

So no, I don’t feel like I need makeup but I do have a lot of imperfections on my face and just like most people, if at all possible, I like to cover them up. Scarring, uneven skin tones, acne, I just prefer it to not be as noticeable.

4. I’m good at it.

I’m no makeup artist and I don’t know all of the tricks, but I honestly feel like I not only do a good job on myself but on other people too. I feel like for the most part I know what I am doing and that’s a good feeling. To be successful at something.

5. Confidence.

At the end of the day, I feel more confident. I haven’t come to terms with my natural face yet so makeup is usually a necessity. I feel more confident and pulled together. I feel like I can conquer anything that life throws at me. I feel that good with just makeup. If there is one thing that I can do to myself that makes me feel that good and is no harm to others, why would I stop doing it? Makeup is fun and it is something that I can constantly be growing in, and learning about. I spend my free time watching makeup tutorials because that is something that I want to improve on every day. Bottom line is, I just feel better with it on.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
