I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Isis is an Islamic terrorist group that has declared war on the United States of America. It hasn’t stopped here. Isis has gone global. With 140 attacks on 29 countries, they have declared a world war. This is not including Iraq or Syria where their presence has taken a much deadlier soil. As an Iraqi Christian myself, whose entire Iraqi community is just about exterminated, the matter takes a personal toll, which is why you may call me bias for my thoughts on why we need to strengthen our military and keep out Syrian refugees.
Isis has made it very clear that they will smuggle in operatives with refugees coming into our boarders. They have done so with Europe this past November, by including them in the boats bringing in refugees and migrants to the Greek Island of Lesbos. This was only a matter of four Isis members out of 198 people coming in, that killed 130. To put matters into perspective, President Obama has proposed to bring in 10,000 refugees into the U.S.
The President insists on making this matter about prejudice. This matter is not about prejudice. This matter is about security. What Americans should fear is not people who don’t look or practice as we might, but those that want to kill us and our families, those who will stop at nothing to take control over the country we call home.
When I talk to my peers about these matters, and the upcoming elections, it’s often the same conversation. It turns into a small debate and then they ask how who becomes president will actually impact their own individual lives. It’s hard to picture something we’ve never personally experienced. Because many of us have never actually felt the impact of one of these gruesome attacks. We think of them as more of an idea than a close reality. If we understand what is going on throughout the world on a weekly basis, from the throat cutting of Father Jacques Hamel in France by a 19 year old Isis soldier, to the Orlando nightclub shooting, then these matters should be of concern. If proper action isn’t taken by our Commander in Chief, I strongly believe that United States of America will soon no longer stand.
At the DNC this past Tuesday, Democrats did not once mention Isis. President Obama continues to refuse addressing Isis as an Islamic terrorist group. If we don’t address the issue, we are surrendering to our attackers without a fight. If all other political matter throughout this election have bored you, at least take this one into consideration. Who you vote for does matter, and will impact your life. Stay informed, and continue to care.
