Being in the public eye for over 10 years has placed Kim Kardashian and her "krew" all over magazines, TVs, social media, video games, brands of clothing, etc. She first came into the public eye as Paris Hilton's personal assistant and BFF for a short time, but most people probably remember her for that famous sex tape she made with rapper Ray J. Ever since then, she's been flooding every form of media there is with story after story: divorces, plastic surgeries, gyms she goes to, other plastic surgery stories, and the kicker---her grand marriage to Kayne West at the Palace of Versailles in France.
She's been attacked before; she's gotten flour bombed, and last week, Pakistani prankster Vitalii Sediuk tried kissing her on her bottom. This week was different, though. After flaunting her brand new 20-carat ring all over her Snapchat this week during Paris fashion week, She was tied up, gagged, and locked in a bathroom by two men who pretended to be French police officers while they robbed her of $10 million dollars worth of jewels. No harm was done to her, and minutes later when the men left, she called for help.
There are so many issues with this story. What celebrity would flaunt a multi-million dollar ring on Snapchat where she has tons of friends, explicitly tell everyone the location she was at, where she was staying, and who she was with? Someone with a large amount of publicity and followers should know how much she should share about herself, especially Kim Kardashian, who has gotten into so much trouble before by over-exposing herself to the public to the point of getting in trouble with the law.
We live in a society where over-exposure is what we aim for. We want to see what everyone is doing all the time, and we want people to be jealous of what we're doing, which is why we post everything on multiple platforms. We count our likes, show off our best outfits, and spend time thinking of the perfect, funny, quirky comment to put on our Instagram pictures.
We need to put our phones down, live in the moment, and pay attention to our surroundings more because it's more important than how many views we get on our Snapchat story.
