Why We Love Michelle Obama

We're all going to miss our favorite FLOTUS

Why We Love Michelle Obama

There are several reasons why Michelle Obama is my favorite first lady ever. For once I did not particularly pay attention to the previous first ladies because they were simply not as cool, bright, kind and awesome as she is. For real, this woman can rap, dance and dress like no one else. She is like this cool aunt you always go to when you cannot get along with your mother. I hate politics, because it simply bores me (don't forget to vote Tuesday November 8!) and I honestly like to think that other people will worry about it so I just avoid getting involved, what a shame for a citizen right? I mean in my defense I have just recently moved back to the States so... But anyway, this is truly the first time that I actually pay a decent amount of attention to what is happening in the White House.

The reason why I like Michelle Obama is because it is easy to identify to her. She is a great model for young girls not only in America but all over the world. Being a woman in our modern society is not easy because the female gender is perpetually underestimated by the male gender. In addition, being a black woman in America is even more complicated and challenging. She is proving that it is possible for black women to be successful regardless of the stereotypes that are meant to destroy our confidence and self-esteem. Forget about the stereotype of the angry black woman who cannot do anything better than birth several children and depend on her husband to support her.

Michelle is the first African-American Firs Lady and let just say that she has put the bar pretty high for the next generation of First Lady to come, whether black, white or blue. She is a Princeton University and Harvard Law of School graduate. She is a powerful woman standing next to the most powerful man in the world. And I think this is a true lesson about relationship. As women we should aim to be successful while standing next to a successful man. That is something that I admire about Michelle, she is not powerful and successful because she is married to the President of the United States, she is powerful and successful because she is an ambitious woman who has worked hard her entire life. Indeed, that is something who should all remember, a woman does not need a man to accomplish great things in life, rather she needs a man to support her while she is being amazing!

She may be FLOTUS but she still knows how to enjoy life. Bottom line she is just amazing, have you seen her in that Versace dress at her last state dinner? Simply stunning! I am honestly just waiting for her to run for President in four years so we can all stop making those plans to move to Canada.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
