Why We All Hate the Week Before Spring Break

The week before spring break is easily the worst week of the spring semester. Here's why.

Why We All Hate the Week Before Spring Break

The week before spring break could easily be the toughest week of the whole spring semester. For most students, the only thing holding them back from a week in paradise is a few hours of classes over the course of four or five days. Here is a list of all the reasons why the week before spring break sucks and some ways to deal with it.

Midterms. Lucky us! Spring break always seems to fall right around midterms. When all we can focus on is our upcoming vacation turn up, we're forced to focus on world history or that psych exam we have the Friday before break.

How to deal. If you haven't been studying before now, then you better get on it. It is likely that if you spend your time studying the week will go by faster, and you are bound to get a pretty good grade on your exams.

Last-minute papers and projects. As if tests are not bad enough, you almost always have that one professor who wants to stick you with a 12-page research paper or some ridiculous group project the week before spring break.

How to deal. Brood silently in your room, but be sure to get your work done. Yes, it was totally uncool of your professor to assign something like this the week right before spring break, but just revel in the fact that they'll have to grade your work on their week off.

Realizing you forgot to stick to your diet. #SpringBreakBod is spring semester's biggest trend, but it seems to be that you suddenly realize you forgot to stick to your diet and never went to the RAC the week right before spring break. You'll swear that you had more time, but where did it go?

How to deal. I guess now it's time to Pinterest ways to get that bod within a week... or stand in front of the mirror saying good things about yourself until you don't feel like you need to change anymore.

Vacation jealousy. No matter how much time and effort you put into planning the sickest spring break possible there is always someone who is doing something just a little bit cooler than you. Vacation jealousy is sure to rear it's ugly head the week before Spring Break when you finally hear where that annoying girl in you math class is going next week.

How to deal. Start planning your bigger, better SB2K16.

Spring break is still a week away. The biggest problem with the week before spring break is that it's just not spring break. You are so close, yet so far. You can almost taste the salty air and feel the warm sun on your skin, but as soon as your alarm goes off in the morning, you find yourself sorely disappointed.

How to deal. Keep yourself busy. If you need to, take the time to Pinterest exotic vacations spots or Google pictures of the beach. Take lots of naps if you don't have any work to do. Pack your bags early and then unpack and repack them. Just do anything to keep your mind off of how many days you have to wait.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
