Washingtonville: a small, boring town in Orange County, New York. A town that will always have my heart.
Washingtonville, better known to its residents as 'Washy' or 'Da Ville', is where I spent my life growing up. It was such a boring town and much like everyone else, I really hated it. I remember in my high school years I couldn't wait to get out.
Even still now, I think about this town and I want it to be in my past. But I now notice how everytime I come home, entering the heart of this tiny town puts a smile on my face. Maybe, I actually like Washingtonville, or maybe it is just the familiarity but I feel at home when I come back. Everything feels in place.
It could be that Washingtonville is my home, I grew up here. Everything is there; my dance studio, my family, my friends, my high school. Even though it's boring, it's home.
I remember heading off to my first year of college, driving further and further away from this little town. Even though I attend a college that is also in a small town, it isn't the same, although I suppose having that small-town-feel is helpful when I am away from my real home.
I guess that Washingtonville will always have piece of my heart.
