Why I Want Whitney Thore As My BFF
LittleThings

For those of us who watch TLC's My Big Fat Fabulous Life, we know exactly who Whitney Thore is. But, for those of you who spend Tuesday nights doing something else, Whitney Thore is a Greensboro, North Carolina native who came to fame because of her sensational Youtube video entitled "A Fat Girl Dancing" in which her and her dance partner, Todd showed the world you can break it down at any size!

Every single time I watch the show, I can't help but think that Whitney and I could be the best of friends, and here are a few reasons why I think Whit could be the best BFF there could ever be.

She wears whatever she wants, whenever she wants, no matter what.

Whitney has been seen unapologetically rocking a sports bra when working out, and dancing. She definitely rocks this look!

Remember the time she stepped out in a two piece bathing suit?

Whitney spoke out on the show about how she hadn't been to the beach in years and hadn't been seen in a two-piece bathing suit for as long as she could remember. It was a huge moment in her life when she and her friend went to the beach and Whitney stepped out in an adorable two-piece bikini.

Who doesn't want a mermaid bathing suit, though? Seriously.

She doesn't let a number on a scale define who she is.

It's a hard battle to fight when you don't feel good about yourself because of your weight. You obsess over how much you weigh, what size jeans you wear, etc. Whitney makes it a point to let the world know that no matter what number shows up on the scale, it will never define who she is as a person.

The "No Body Shame" campaign.

According to the No Body Shame campaign website, the true meaning of "no body shame" is: "The mission of the No Body Shame campaign is to help every individual overcome the debilitating effects of societal-induced shame. Supporters of No Body Shame have named weight, height, skin color, sexual orientation, gender, different abilities, and specific physical attributes as causes of shame."

She's educating the world on PCOS.

It used to really surprise me how many people I would come across, including medical professionals, that didn't know what PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) was. Whitney has been really candid about how PCOS has impacted her life, included weight gain, infertility, and acne.

If you or anyone you know needs more information about PCOS, please visit http://www.pcosaa.org/pcos-symptoms/ and speak to a medical professional. You're not alone.

Her relationship with her mother.

Whitney's relationship with her mom is seriously mother/daughter goals! We've seen some pretty interesting situations from the dynamic duo, ranging from Bab's shaving Whitney's legs to the two of them going out and adopting a pet pig together.

My thoughts and prayers are with Babs and the Thore family, stay strong!

Her dancing abilities.

Whitney can dance better than I could ever dream of. In the newest episode of "My Big Fat Fab Life" we see her belly dance a local restaurant after being invited to take a belly dancing class.

Could you maybe teach me a thing or two, Whit?

And finally, the number one reason I think Whitney and I would make a great best friend team is...

Cats!

Whitney and I share a love and obsession for cats! She's been very candid about how much she loves her cats (and cats in general, really) and she even went to war with her mom about taking her cat with her when she moved out of her parents house.

In all, I just think Whitney would be a funny, supportive, and entertaining best friend to have! From her confidence to her sense of humor, I think Whitney has all the qualifications to be the best of best friends.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
