Waking up in the morning, doing my daily routine, getting ready to go to work, and doing the same thing every day is not my kind of style.
I like to wake up and know that today will be a different day, what will I see today, from all the knuckleheads to the serious ones, each minute having me on my feet. That is what will keep me going.
First responders tend to be highly satisfied with the work they do. This is probably because their work is so important to society.
I want to make a difference in people's lives, I want to be a role model to kids. I want to mean something to people.
It is never an easy job, no matter how long you’ve been serving for. First responders risk working in hazardous situations.
They must touch patients who could carry contagious diseases, and they could become infected if they don’t take the right precautions.
They also have to kneel, bend, and lift heavy weights. They may need to restrain certain patients. All of these activities can lead to injury. They pretty much say goodbye to their backs.
I hear stories every day about tragedies that happen all around us, and it is truly heartbreaking. I strive to be able to help the victims of those tragedies. First responders see those every day, they live them, and I honor and look up to them for their service.
They are ones who give up a little in order to give to others. That’s what I want to do.
I want to give up some to care for others.
I want to be able to have the skills in order to possibly save someone's life.
I want to make a change in their lives.
I live in a township where our first responders are amazing. They are so interactive with our community; they care about us and make us feel safe.
I have the awesome opportunity to get to know some of our first responders; each and every single one of them is truly amazing.
I look up to every single person who goes on the job every day and makes our community a safe one. They signed up for training. They studied countless hours. They sweated through exams and waited for the results.
They showed up for drills when you might have spent the evening or Saturday with friends.
That is why I want to be a first responder.
