The Emerald Isle, the extraordinary country of Ireland, in all of it's rolling green hills and patchwork farmland, is no doubt the most beautiful place on earth. The home of the leprechauns and other mystical tales makes it that much more enchanting.
1. Castles.
Touring castles all over this beautiful country should always be one of the top aactivities on your list when visiting Ireland. Most of the castles are very ancient, which makes it that much more interesting. Some are known to be haunted, others just historical, but no matter what they be, they give off a very romantic feel into the atmosphere. The most well known castle in the country is the Blarney Castle in County Cork, which is visited by hundreds of people every day. The castle is very, very tall, but very small inside, as you climb up large staircases to reach the top and kiss the famous Blarney Stone, to give you good luck for life.
2. The Cliffs of Moher.
Being the most popular and widely known site in Ireland, the Cliffs of Moher is the most breathtaking and jawdropping landscape you will ever see. They are so beautiful that they do not even look real, it looks like something you would see in a movie. They are about eight miles long, and even made an appearance in the Harry Potter movie, "the Half Blood Prince.
3. Booze.
It is no secret that the Irish love to drink. The pubs are a fantastic way to make you get the true Irish feel. There are pubs on every corner of every town, usually with live music playing. Some pubs have Irish step dancing, and have a small band playing with banjos, accordions, and harmonicas. It is truly very enjoyable at night after having a long day of touring to just relax with a good 'ol dark Guinness while being entertained.
The Breweries and Distilleries make great day trips, too, seeing how they make their drinks step by step. Even if you cannot or do not drink alcohol, it still will make a fun trip, trust me.
4. Cuisine.
The Irish are not known for their cooking, if anything, they are known for the cuisine being not so good. However, the true Irish cuisine is definitely an experience. Classic Irish dishes such as Bangers and Mash, Fish and Chips, and Shepard's Pie are all very easy to find around the country. Every single meal comes with potatoes in all different forms, so if you are a potato fan, this truly is the place for you. Tea time every day around noon is essential in the Irish tradition. A cup of tea with biscuits and scones with jam and cream gives me life. Once you return home, that is one thing you will really, really miss.
5. The People!
The Irish are the nicest people you will ever meet in your entire life. You can just meet a person in the streets and they will welcome you into their home for tea like you have known each other for years. They are all always so very happy and peaceful, and give off such positive vibes.
