Those Difficult Careers We All Strive For Are Worth It And The People Who Hold You Back Are Not

"Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts."

-- Winston S. Churchill

When It comes to being successful and working for exactly what you want, saying it will always be a walk in the park compared to the late nights of studying, years of school and sacrifices you will make just to earn at least one degree. As often as we will lose sight of focus it is important to remember that is exactly what happens. We fall out of focus, not love and it takes a lot of personal discipline and dedication to stick with what we know is the right path for us.

For me personally, I let a long-term relationship ruin me. I forgot who I was because I was so caught up in being a person I wasn't ready for that I completely forgot how blessed I was for this opportunity to even go to college. As I have been writing these articles I have gone through a lot of personal challenges that have shown me a lot about who I am as a person and helped me grow. Of these challenges finding my perfect major was at the top of my list. I was so worried about not finding my niche I didn't allow myself to branch out. I feel like writing these has helped me realize a lot about myself and I hope whoever is reading this wherever you are, that you are happy and striving to be as successful as you want to be and that reading this only helps motivate you.

As a now business major and aspiring economist, I understand that things have to fall apart before they can all come together to where they make sense. I also realize that even the people that we think are the best for us, really only hold us back from our own personal best.

Education is so important because it helps you open doors to opportunities to only push you farther in life. To the people who have always supported me, I couldn't thank you more for believing in me when I didn't even know what it felt like to believe in myself. For everyone who didn't, I also want to thank you for showing me that no matter what I do someone will be there to try and knock me down. Nineteen years of this life has shown me how worth it I am and how important I am.

Out of every single quote I have ever come across this one has stuck with me and I will always be grateful for it and the message that it sends.

"There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed."

-- Ray Goforth

Stay strong everyone, college is only the beginning of my long life of different types of successes and I can only hope the same for you.

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
