If you are a member of the United States of America, November eighth was a huge day for you. It was election day for the President of the United States of America, and you were down to two candidates the infamous Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump. If you would've told me two years ago that these two would be the prime candidates for the office of President I would have never believed you. As a Christian voter, I prayed deeply for who was to lead this country and to give me guidance to do what was right as I hope many others did. I will not disclose who I voted for in this article because I believe it is unnecessary for the point I am trying to prove. The point I am trying to make is that many others did what they felt was right for this country, and instead of throwing a temper tantrum and threatening to move to Canada every 5 minutes, maybe we should consider that this country is a democracy and that the majority of people voted for Trump and it is time to move on and accept it.
Whether the country would have picked Clinton or Trump, I would have been okay with it because I would know that my fellow citizens believed that the candidate had the best policies to run this country. I am a strong believer that Presidental campaigns should not be a popularity contest, but instead a look at the policies and their plans for the future. If we would look directly at that instead of the constant mudslinging it would be a lot easier to cast a vote. I believe a lot of difficulty with this year's election comes from the fact that both Trump and Clinton constantly harassed each other over things of the past, haven't we all made mistakes? It's okay to educate voters on certain circumstantial things, but bringing it up every debate was totally unnecessary.
I think the biggest thing I want to say to everybody is not to let this election tear us apart. We've all been dishearted when the person we expected to win loses, but I don't think it's worth losing relationships with our close friends and family over. I remember when Obama first got elected and the Republicans were totally upset, but in the end, they accepted him as their President and moved on. If we spend the next 4 years either bragging that our candidate won or complaining that our candidate lost, it is going to be 4 years of absolute hell. We have a system set in place to regulate the President with checks and balances, so I knew that no matter who was our President, that my representatives and I would have some say in the decision making of the country and that, in the end, everything would be okay.
So if you are having issues with the Presidental Election of 2016, I encourage you to pray and find comfort in that there is a purpose in everything, maybe Trump will be a great President, maybe he won't, but I'm sure in my heart that there is a purpose in him winning the election of 2016.
