Although your home best friend may be miles away, the impact of their friendship is no further than where you stand. They have been with you through the different stages of your life and continue to be a part of the future stages in your life. It's easy to get wrapped up in college and forget about life back home, but nothing brings me more comfort than seeing or hearing from my home best friend.
We are always (for the most part) in touch. A Facetime, a text conversation, or even a daily snapchat it still counts. It's nice to talk and vent to your college friends, but there's something so comforting when it comes to talking to someone from home..and not just anyone, your best friend.
They tell you how it is, no sugar coating. We've known each other for too long to beat around the bush. A college friend may tell you what you want to hear, but a home friend tells you what you need to hear. Nothing against friends in college, but your home friend has known you longer therefore being able to understand your mind and how you deal with things. They only are only thinking on behalf of your best intentions.
We reflect on the memories and make new ones. There's no one else that you share an abundant amount of memories and laughs with. Me and my home best friend will occasionally bring up the good times we've had just to get a laugh out of the day. In addition to some of the best memories that are made when coming back for college breaks or over the summer
They will always be there. Sometimes, life can get overwhelming and it seems like no one is understanding what you go through. When you think all hope is lost in your crazy college experiences, my home best friend is ready to be my biggest support system. They help you get through anything and always mention the countdown of the days you come home for breaks.
College introduces you to some of the greatest people you will meet in your lifetime. However, it's important to not forget about the ones before college that got you through life. Make sure to let your home friends know how special they are to you and keep in touch. It's sad when you've built a strong connection with someone over the years and the reason that its lost is going away to college.
