Why The Walking Dead is an Amazingly Heartbreaking TV Series

The Walking Dead is a survivalist series centering around a small group of characters that all those who watch the series have come to know and love. We cry along with them when they lose members of the group, contemplate what is going to happen next and what the group should do, and completely stress when a herd of Walkers happens upon them. Everyone who watches the show knows that it is silly to be emotionally connected to these characters as they have so little chances to succeed and live, but we all find ourselves becoming way more emotionally invested than we ever thought possible.

Us, TWD fanatics, have found ourselves suffering alongside the characters that we love as the cope with the deaths of the group, that see each other as a family. Though we cannot relate the exact situations the characters are put into, we feel an enormous amount of empathy and pain for them when hard decisions concerning the group need to be made. It's absolutely insane how much you can feel for a character you don't know who's living in a harsh and punishing world you don't know, one that is almost impossible to succeed in, but you feel as though you are them.

The deaths throughout the series effect us all; they're always surprises causing you to cry out, gasp for breath with the rest of the surviving characters, and keep you at the edge of your seat. Some of the deaths you find yourself at an eerie acceptance with, and others will literally rip your heart out and stamp on it.

*Spoiler Alert*

The recent death of Glenn and Abraham, along with the capture of Daryl, left The Walking Dead family shaken to their core; not knowing what the do next with the threat of Negan surrounding them. The group right now sees no hope, only the pain that Negan has caused and will continue to cause, with the tiny hope that this pain will inspire the group to seek revenge against Negan for all the group has and will continue lose to him. Though this is a time of despair for the group, they must all come together in the hopes of strengthening themselves against Negan, overcoming what he has done to them and becoming free from his reign. With all of Rick's power taken from him, the group will have to find a way to gain back that power, and rid themselves of Negan; though the effects of what he has done will reverberate around the group forever.

No one knows what is coming next for Rick and the group, but we all know it will be a long and hard fight against Negan and the Saviors, one that may last seasons, and include many heartbreaks.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
