Why The Quarantine Fashion Mindset Should Stay After Quarantine Ends

Wearing whatever you want in quarantine and not judging anyone else for doing the same should keep going after quarantine.

Why The Quarantine Fashion Mindset Should Stay After Quarantine Ends

I've seen so many people happier simply because they're wearing their favorite outfits while stuck at home has been great! Why can't it be like this all the time?

Quarantine is a magical place not restricted by fashion social norms. I can pair whichever wacky clothes I want to and call it an outfit. I've been wearing a tacky blue Hawaiian shirt with sweatpants and going about my day like everything is normal. And weirdly enough,I'm happier because I get to wear one of my favorite shirts and my favorite sweatpants. Being a tiny bit happier just from wearing my favorite clothes is something that I think everyone should be doing during quarantine and afterwards. Now that you know I own a Hawaiian t-shirt, you should know that I am extremely qualified to call myself a fashionista and lead the charge in making quarantine fashion outlive the COVID-19 quarantine.

Social norms that we've created with the fashion industry are silly. Matching clothes by design and color is overrated when you can put together an outfit based on your favorite pieces of clothing. And if they happen to match, then great! But I don't think people should feel the need to conform to society's expectations on how to dress like matching clothes.

Quite a few people I know in quarantine have been embracing wearing whatever they feel like and they seem genuinely happy about it. A lot of people are wearing their prom dresses, wedding dresses, and Halloween costumes for fun which is so great! It's a simple way to spice up people's days and it's free. People probably have random clothes they almost never have a reason to wear lying around their homes, so quarantine is a great reason to wear them. Personally, I've been wearing my cow onesie regularly and enjoying every second of it. Wearing silly outfits that I like is a good way to embrace the chaos of corona with my outfits. Finding silly ways like wearing your favorite outfit to make you a little happier or a lot more confident is a great way to start the day off right.

Right now, we all have this big common obstacle that is COVID-19 (dun dun dun). We all know that there's something everyone is dealing with which is why it's been more acceptable for people to wear whatever they want when they show up for video chat meetings. I think it would be great if after quarantine ends, everyone tries to remember how dealing with COVID-19 feels and then give other people more slack in the future when they are dealing with obstacles in their lives. Specifically, if someone wants to wear their Hawaiian t-shirt with sweatpants, let's not judge.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
