Hello everyone welcome to my weekly movie review, I am your host the bony critic and today we will take a look at “ The Little Prince”. I will not spoil much, just a tiny bit of the film. “The Little Prince” is a 3d animated film directed by Mark Osborne based on the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The film follows a young little girl whose mother has prepared her entire life for her including all of her birthdays, when and where she enters school and how her daughter is suppose to think and act. After failing to be accepted into an amazing school her mother decides that they will move into a new neighborhood so that her daughter can study and be prepared for the next auditions. Along the way the little girl meets a very old man who she befriends and is known as The Aviator. The audience soon finds out that he is a bit of a troublemaker, so let’s get started.

In the beginning of the movie as I explained earlier the mother planned out her daughter's life completely. There is obviously no father which might indicate a death or maybe a divorce. The mother herself is very controlling and doesn’t know when to relax. This sends red flags everywhere because this means she doesn’t let her daughter be a real kid, a kid who gets in trouble, writes on walls, and has fun. Another thing I would like to point out is what the mother is wearing. She always wears a grey women’s suit like everything else that is around the child. The neighborhood is grey and even the house she lives in has variations of grey which makes things sad and depressing. The only thing that is not boring is the aviator’s house which is very vibrant and full of life and it also creates a huge contrast between him and everyone else in the movie. Note that imagery is going to be extremely important throughout the film.

A child will always do what a parent says no matter what, but a child always has curiosity and in this curiosity did not kill the cat. The Aviator tries to make friends with the little girl by sending a paper airplane through her opened window which I think is very cute. The airplane however has a story written on it and of course it is the story of the little prince. At first the little girl ignored it, but out of curiosity she ended up reading it and she became enthralled with it and wanted to know more. Later on the aviator and her become friends, and every time after her mother goes to work the little girl ignores her chores and her planned out life to actually start enjoying her childhood. Not only does the aviator become her best friend, but also a teacher. He was someone who actually takes the time to listen and care for her feelings and thoughts and to let her be a real kid. I know her mother is busy with work, but instead of following this plan she has for her child maybe she should set that aside and speak to her and ask her what she truly wants. Anyway The Aviator teaches the little girl that it’s ok to be afraid because in the end you can always overcome that fear.

As the little girl continued to meet with The Aviator to hear more about the story of the little prince things start to get sad, she soon learns about the hard hitting emotions that is in the story like sacrifice, death, and why letting go is almost always the best decision to do. After The Aviator told her why he left the little prince behind and that one day he too would have to leave her behind. She lost it and became angry with him, even telling him she hated him. She would soon realize that she had made a mistake after The Aviator was taken to the hospital. The little girl tried reaching him, but she was unable to because her mother stopped since she thought it was nonsense. Now this is where things get deep and we are only halfway through the film, this is the moment where I started crying for the next 30 minutes. I’m not saying this to make this article more interesting I am telling you the truth. This little girl rebelled and tried to sneak away to go see The Aviator, but she fell out her window and into The Aviator’s backyard where he had the broken down plane, but as she stood there looking at it, it was working. So she decided to get on it and find the little prince herself for he lived on a small planet . While she was flying out in space there were no stars. She then came upon a planet where she thought she spotted him. The planet however looked like a big city where only adults lived and worked, and it was very dark and very monotone in color. I failed to mention this earlier, but the little prince is a child, and when she found him on this sad planet only inhabited by adults he too was an adult. When she questioned him on who he was, he couldn’t remember and that’s when I started crying a river because he wasn’t able to remember all the adventures he had. He tried helping her get answers, but was soon captured by an adult who was destroying childhood things and kept saying “ anything inessential must be made essential”. I thought that was sad because what if you’re fine the way you are, why fix something or someone when they are not broken. After the prince found out how cruel the people on this planet were he stood up for himself and helped her escape because he started to remember who he really was inside. They both escaped and she took him back to his planet. In the story the little prince had one single rose on his planet, when he returned she had withered and died, but as the sun came over the horizon he was okay with his rose dying. The little prince said that she wasn’t completely gone because he could still feel her and as he put it “ Only with the heart that one can see rightly”. In the end the little prince remembered everything and reverted back to a child again.

This whole film is a lesson in almost every hard hitting thing you can think of.

  1. Being an adult doesn’t always have to mean that you can't have fun and enjoying life while still having responsibilities.
  2. Never give up on your dreams because your dreams and aspirations are what make you you.
  3. Death will always be there you shouldn’t be afraid to face it because you can always choose to let go or cope with it and try to move on. The person will never be gone because they are in our hearts and by that I mean their memories and their presence are always with us.
  4. It’s okay to be scared if you're a kid or a teen and even an adult, we are all capable of overcoming our fear no matter what it is.
  5. It’s okay to let go because it is how we grow to become stronger and to see who we can truly become. It is just the matter of if you are willing to let go or if you hold on to whatever negative thing you are holding on to that is what sets us back .
  6. Enjoy the wonders of what life can give. Life itself is a gift and we must enjoy every precious moment we have.

In conclusion I give this thirty crying skulls out ten. I didn’t want to spoil a lot about the story of the little prince because if you are reading the story and the film are both worth it. I’ll see you next time on the bony critic.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
