Why The Arts Are Important
Key Exposure

I always been involved in the arts. Acting, dancing, singing and many other branches of the topic. I couldn’t imagine it not being a part of my life. Chorus was the class I couldn’t wait to get to in school to just forget about the day for a while and fall into the music. I don't go anywhere without my music. If I forget my headphones the day is already ruined. This is normal for me. Yet, for so many kids being in an arts class is an extreme privilege. So many children across the country are denied access to arts programs in school due to a multitude of reasons, but that is no excuse.

The arts teach kids lessons too, believe it or not. Music students are shown to be better at math. Art students are shown to have better spatial reasoning skills and hand eye coordination. Dance students learn agility and endurance. The arts are also shown to improve attendance and graduation rates. Kids look forward to coming to school and having fun while learning. So why is arts education being pulled from schools nationwide, especially schools that have low graduation rates. It anything there should be more arts education and their graduation and attendance rates might go up.

Whether you’re involved in the arts or not, it is important. Kids need arts education in schools. They will be happier, more motivated and better students. There are plenty of ways to get the money to continue arts education. People just need to fight for it.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
