Lately looking at pop culture, I can’t help but miss the '90s. There are actually many reasons why the '90s was bomb, but just to prove why a little bit more, let's take a look:

1. The music

If I want to listen to music that’ll make me dance, cry, think and a variety of other things, I go straight to my '90s catalog. We had Boyz II Men, Jodeci, The Spice Girls, Whitney Houston, Brandy ... basically music that made you feel something.

2. The fashion

When I was a kid, I thought my goal in life was to dress like Will Smith off of "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air." The '90s had signature looks from Moesha’s quirky TV star look to Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain’s edgy, oversized look. There were so many trends to pay attention to.

3. The TV shows

Right after I came home from school I had my daily shows recorded and ready for me. The '90s had so many sitcoms to choose from it was insane. From Martin and Gina’s shenanigans to Moesha’s teenage mistakes, there were so many depictions of people like me living and learning lessons that still make me laugh today. My personal favorites are "Moesha," "A Different World," "Living Single" and "Martin."

4. The movies

Some of the greatest American movies like "Titanic," "Forrest Gump," "Friday" and "Clueless" (okay, I might’ve just thrown that one in there) were made in the '90s. I mean, without the '90s I wouldn’t be able to say “Bye Felicia," and who would want to live in a world without that reference?

5. The dance moves

Last but not least, the dance moves of the '90s were nothing less than pivotal. I mean, when you hear “It’s Not Unusual,” you immediately do the Carlton Dance. Let’s not lie.

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
