Thanksgiving is a very overlooked, underrated holiday. As soon as Halloween's over, people go straight to Christmas. Now, this article isn't meant to bash the other holidays, because I love them just as much, but I feel like Thanksgiving doesn't get as much credit for being a holiday as the others. This holiday is a wonderful one and this article is going to go through reasons why I think it should get more credit.
Reason 1: It is a day of reflection.
This day is meant for us to think back on all the things we have to be thankful for. It's easy for us, especially in this time period, for us to forget how thankful we should be for the things we have. We often take for granted these things, but this is a perfect time for us to reflect on our lives and truly appreciate what we have.
Reason 2: The food is LIT.
The greatest thing about Thanksgiving is the food. People go all out with the dishes. They prepare turkey, macaroni and cheese, green beans, collard greens, and pie are just some of the delicious things that people make. Ham is probably my favorite thing to eat at Thanksgiving. Actually preparing the food is a special time. Families come together and bond while they cook. This gives them a chance to catch up and really spend time with each other. So, the food at Thanksgiving is an important component to the day that ultimately brings families closer.
Reason 3: Turkeys are really funny animals,
The bird that's centered around this holiday is one of the funniest bird in the animal kingdom. Turkeys are all around comedic birds. They looks really crazy until the red snoods and beards. They walk really funny; it's more of a wobble than a walk, and their calls are perfect subjects for impressions. All in all, turkeys are hilarious birds that will do nothing if not make you laugh.
Thanksgiving is a time for reflection and gather of families while the food is a nice perk, it shouldn't be about that. It should be about spending time with the people you love and giving thanks to God for everything He blesses you with. That's the important part.
