Why I Still Watch Grey's Anatomy

And Why You Shouldn't Give Up

Why I Still Watch Grey's Anatomy

I have watched Grey's for a long time. It was so long ago that I don't even remember my first episode. I do remember that it was around the time when Izzy was with Denny, so about nine years ago when season two premiered. I still can't believe it. It still amazes me that the show has gone on for so long; it's really unusual.

Since the show has been on, characters have died, actors have moved on with other things, and most of all, viewers have gotten attached. But what's so special is that a lot of people have quit since Dr. Derek Shepherd died in the season 11. I myself don't understand why people would quit. The show still goes on. It's not like Derek was the main character. It was essentially about Meredith and her life as a doctor with her friends.

That's why I still watch Grey's. It's not about the attractive actors that people make it seem like that's why they watch it. It's about saving lives and life as a doctor. The show was one of the main reasons why I would love to be a doctor and a surgeon, but due to my personality (I don't do well under pressure), I know I could never do the amazing things that surgeons do.

Am I sad that Derek died? Heck yeah. It was heartbreaking, especially when they showed pieces of their relationship. But I still stand by what Shonda Rhimes did. Patrick Dempsey wanted to move on to other things. If I were an actress, I probably would want to explore the field and expand my skills on what kind of characters I could play. She also stood by her story, and as a creative writer, I respect that. Derek simply couldn't leave Meredith, like Rhimes said. It just wouldn't be the right thing to do. The only thing I disagreed with was how Derek died. He died at the hand of an awful medical team. He deserved to die by everyone making their best effort.

Now, as I watch Grey's on TV and re-watch Grey's on Netflix, I still love their story lines. I'm interested to see how Meredith and everyone else moves on. I'm interested in Alex and Jo settling down. I'm interested in what life will be like with Maggie Pierce and Amelia Shepherd. I'm interested in what happens to the every character because a tv show isn't meant to focus on just one. After the bomb, Meredith's drowning, the shooting, Callie's car crash, the plane crash, the flood and the deaths of some beloved characters, the show still goes on.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
