Why I'm Starting a Blog

Why I'm Starting a Blog

I'm going to start doing what thousands have been doing for years: start a blog. I have been thinking about this for some time, and with my newfound love of watching YouTubers and seeing others build a brand, I have finally decided to just go for it! As a writer, it'll help me write waaaaaaay more than I currently am, and I can write whatever I want!

Creative freedom

As I have been writing for the Odyssey for a little over a year, I know that the main purpose of the Odyssey is current events and miscellaneous topics. Viral list articles are what made the Odyssey one of the fastest growing media sites. Other people have written viral "blog" style articles on here as well, but why not write it on your own platform and build your own brand? Because the Odyssey is not a blog, especially your blog.

As a creative writer, I want to have a place where I can put parts of my life, my adventures, poetry, and short stories. I feel that starting an actual blog will put me into a better place. I am not a journalist. I'm a person that creates my own stories.

Personal growth

I love to see how my writing and I will evolve since I begin this chapter of my life. I think there's no better way to see change than having evidence of it. That's why I love Instagram. I can see changes in not only in how I look but how I've lived my life. Now, with a blog, I can see that in my writing too.

Not on a schedule

This is a commitment, but I am not being tied to having to get this posted on a certain day of the week. I want and need to post as much as I can, but that's why I giving myself the variety of what to write about. I'm not having to sit down with my laptop and not having the feeling to write something that has to be done, if that makes sense.

Better for a writer

Having a blog is a way to have content of mine to be published. If someone from an industry likes what I writing, it can lead to all sorts of wonderful opportunities. It's so exciting to think about what could be ahead for me.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
