In the past, Starbucks has had seasonal holiday cups, including Christmas themed designs. This year, in order to be more politically correct, Starbucks changed their cups to being plain red. As a result, Christmas-celebrators across the world are extremely angry that Starbucks is “ruining Christmas.”
So why did Starbucks stop selling drinks in seasonal holiday cups?
1. Because red is a color associated with Christmas.
The Holiday season includes a spectrum of different holidays that are celebrated during November and December. These holidays include Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Christmas -- to name a few. Out of all of these holidays, it is most commonly known that red is associated with Christmas. Therefore, by selling red cups Starbucks is still acknowledging Christmas.
2. Because Starbucks is still brewing a CHRISTMAS BLEND!
For the season, Starbucks is brewing its Christmas Blend Espresso Roast. Christmas Blend. Just because the cups don't say "Merry Christmas" doesn't mean that Starbucks isn't celebrating!!
3. Because Starbucks' merchandise, such as mugs and travel cups, include Christmas phrases.
What's that I see? CHRISTMAS trees printed on a Starbucks mug??
4. Because for the past couple of years, Starbucks cups did not even include “Christmassy” designs.
Here's what the cups looked like last year. Red with some basic design that didn't even include a Christmas theme. Why are people upset this year all of a sudden? (Yes- I did find this picture that I took of my Starbucks over a year ago).
5. Because Starbucks in no way shape or form has to celebrate Christmas.
It's not like the Vatican decided to serve coffee in a universal cup. Starbucks has every right to celebrate, or not celebrate, Christmas or any other holiday.
6. Because it's just a cup people!
Whether it is plain, filled with design, colorful, black and white, etc. Who cares? The cup is simply a container for the delicious beverage it holds. Anyway, we've been drinking from plain red cups for years.
