If you're reading this, I'm pretty sure you know I'm a die-hard Taylor Swift fan. I've been this way for almost 10 years now, from her curly-haired awkward country days to her pop stardom. Supporting her has not always been easy when the rest of the world loves to hate her. This whole Kimye vs. Taylor "Famous" debacle is, of course, frustrating. I can't support what she has done fully, because she has messed up. Once again, the world has found a reason to hate Taylor. I am the first to admit that Taylor is not completely innocent in this whole scenario, but she isn't completely at fault either. She made a mistake saying that she never approved Kanye West's new song. This, in fact, caught Taylor in a lie. That doesn't make it right at all for Kanye to claim that he made her famous. Joke or not, degrading women in a song needs to stop. But, I think amidst this whole hurricane of breaking celebrity drama, we are forgetting to acknowledge some things. Before you judge someone, no matter their status, I think it's important to imagine being in their shoes. Imagine if you said something that wasn't true to try to protect your image. We do this all the time.
You don't have to be the biggest Taylor Swift fan to realize that she doesn't deserve this. Sure, she's one of the biggest celebrities in the industry and you probably think you have nothing in common with her at all. But, you're wrong. We are all human. She is human. Being human means you experience all sorts of things. You make mistakes. You say things you wish you could take back. You do things you wish you could erase. You have emotions and feelings. You feel joy. You feel anger. You feel depressed. You feel stupid sometimes. You endure heartache. You feel like you're not good enough. You have flaws. You feel like the whole world is against you. You fall in and out of love. You get knocked down, but you get right back up. You learn to shake it off. You have big dreams. You control your own destiny. You are a living and breathing being. Being human is a beautiful thing.
It is all too common for us to forget that celebrities are human, too. They are placed on this pedestal that makes them appear superior to us. We view them as being flawless people who never could really understand our struggles. They live with no worries and just go through life without a care in the world for what is going on around them. Sure, this may be true for some celebrities who surely have let the fame get to their heads. But it's not true for all of them. These real celebrities are hard to come by in today's industry.
I believe Taylor is one of those real celebrities. No amount of bad publicity is going to make me change my mind about her. Every one wants to see America's sweetheart fall from fame. Why would we want to see someone who does so much good for the world disappear because of something so trivial? I don't care what anyone else has to say because she's a one-of-a-kind artist who continues to spread love wherever she goes. She's done too much for the music industry as well as ordinary people like me to make me think any less of her. She would never intentionally hurt a fly and does not deserve to be called "that bitch." You are entitled to your own opinion in regards to that notion, but let me present you with some reasons why...
