Why Spring Semester is Better Than Fall

Fall semester really is great … football, finally being back with all of your friends, and the thrill of a new school year and all of the new fun opportunities that lay ahead. Don't get me wrong, I love tailgating, but spring semester holds so much more.

It may not start off great because it's cold, but if you live in the South, spring semester classes are always canceled for snow or the chance of it. If the temp is below freezing and it's raining there's a 99% chance your class will get canceled. Three inches of snow? No school for a week which means a whole week you can do nothing and go sledding and party on Greek Court. One of my favorite memories of college is the snow days I had last year when I lived in my sorority house. Endless sledding and party hopping with everyone who lived in Greek Court.

After the snow days comes spring break — and if you don't love spring break there is obviously something wrong with you. Even if you don't go on a big cruise or trip it's still a week off from school (add that in with the week plus of snow days you just had) so no complaining here. After spring break the temps are starting to warm up — so there's formals, Carolina Cup, and music festivals. NC State students all swarm to Triangle Beach Music Festival in late April which is always conveniently lined up with LDOC — which is a whole other celebration in itself. If you make it past spring break and the slump that is before, you are guaranteed a good time when you get back. Beach music, weekend trips, and sunny days to lay out sounds perfect to me.

Fall semester gives you tailgating and football season, but with spring semester comes snow days aka class cancellations, spring break, music festivals, the beginning of pool days, and with each day that passes by you're that much closer to summer!

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
