Ah, the great debate. North versus South Jersey. A South Jersey native myself, I am obviously biased: there's no question South Jersey is better. And for you Jersey people from "Central Jersey" or whatever they call it, sorry, but I think you guys are just about as mythical as the jersey devil. Don't get me wrong, North Jersey has its perks: commendable food, close to the city, great night life. But there are so many reasons why South Jersey trumps its northern neighbors. Disclaimer: most of these involve food.
1. Pork Roll
Yeah, we both have this beloved product. But northerners will tell you it's called "Taylor Ham." I'm sorry, where on the packaging do you see the words "Taylor Ham?" Taylor is the brand, pork roll is the product. This ongoing argument must be resolved, and the answer is in the packaging.
2. Atlantic City
Yeah, we both have beaches. But can you gamble in North Jersey? If you aren't going to Vegas, Atlantic City is the place to go, and it's right in South Jersey's backyard!
3. Lucy The Elephant
Elephants are already giant, what's better than a giant giant elephant?
4. Produce
You thought "The Garden State" came from North Jersey?
5. Kohr Bros
North Jersians won't even understand this one.
6. Chickie's & Pete's
Crab fries run the world.
7. Wawa
People in North Jersey have it, but it's just another gas station. To South Jersey residents, it's a main food group.
8. Land And Beauty
In northern New Jersey, it's very busy and city like. South Jersey has both; you're right near Philadelphia and Atlantic City and a short train ride to the big apple, but there is a country/farm feel that simply cannot be beat.
