Why Sometimes You Just Need A Weekend Home

We all know college is great and once we got here we thought we would never want to leave.

The stress of academics gets to be too much.

We have reached the point in the semester where it is right before spring break, commonly known as midterm week. With all these different papers and assignments due along with the six tests you need to take obviously students are going to be stressed out. Being at school is a constant reminder of all the different things that need to get done. Staring at your desk gives you anxiety and all you want to do is procrastinate and take a very long nap. Going home allows you to break out of that environment and truly relax.

You need to give your wallet, liver and brain a rest.

During your weekend home, you will be able to detox your liver from constantly partying on the weekends. You will also be able to save your wallet the heartache of spending money on drinks, food and other stuff you really don't need. Also just being home allows for a pleasant feel for your brain to just relax and not worry about anything else.

It's nice to sleep in your own bed.

Regardless if your bed is the same size as the one at school, it is nice to be in your own bed. You are in your own house, in your own room and it feels amazing. You feel comfortable and don't have to worry about your bed squeaking or falling off the top bunk. You don't know why but your bed at home is always a lot comfier than the bed at school, regardless of how many egg crates you put on it.

You don't have to worry about roommates, suitemates or neighbors.

Coming home to a nice quiet house is amazing. You don't have to deal with annoying neighbors who blast really bad music or stomp on the floor like elephants. As much as you may love your roommates, sometimes you need a break. When you start to spend so much time with each other you can get on each other's nerves.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
