In today's time, everything is so serious. Everyone is taking everything so very seriously and are on high alert all the time. Politics are triggering more people on both sides than ever in history, arguably. Even the simple things such as, "you have to wear a mask to keep the bacteria on your breath to yourself and slow the spread of this pandemic that's ripping our country right now" has been twisted and warped into "you are now mandated to wear this mask which will act muzzle, making it very uncomfy for you to breathe, and will no longer allow you to voice your opinion or even speak."
It's pretty insane the power the human mind has to warp reality around it in ways like that, often without us being consciously aware of it. The brain seems to create whatever it needs. If it needs love, or a leader, or conflict, it can manifest those somehow in some way.
I digress. If you're here expecting a deep, complex, and intricate answer from me as to why everyone is so serious today, then you clearly don't know me very well; I don't have one. I don't know if anyone has one. This will be a time that is gonna have to be studied for years and years in order to properly understand what happened here. It certainly can't be covered in an hour-long news segment on whatever channel, or a single blog post on whatever website.
No one has any idea what the hell they're doing, and that can be the most anxiety-inducing and comforting thought, simultaneously. Because while you may think you don't have any of the answers, anyone who tells you they do is lying.
But we as humans desperately want and search for someone who has the answers we need, all the answers. We need God, a political candidate, a lover, an identity, a leader, or a group; someone to tell us where to go, what to do, and how to do it. But, if The Dark Knight is to be believed when there is too much order, chaos will inevitably rise to balance it out.
It seems like I can't even play a game of Call of Duty Zombies without thinking, "should I be doing something more productive? Is the world gonna end tomorrow and end up looking like this, or worse? Wouldn't surprise me; at least I'd have some training."
