Why Slavery Is Still An Issue

We need to speak out more.

In today's society, slavery is still an issue. Horrible human enslavement and monstrosities are going on around the world, and sometimes even in our own country. The sad thing is, most of us are unaware of it. A new kind of era of abolitionist, activist, and leaders are standing up against several human rights violations and breaking of the Geneva convention. We as a society need to stop allowing horrid crimes against humanity from happening. It is our prima facie moral responsibility and an absolute truth that we much be aware of what is going on.

My name is Andrew, and I am a normal person with moral values. I have seen on the news numerous of human rights violations, genocide, as well as international crimes, but journalists were usually afraid to cover them. I am covering this partially as op-ed but mostly based on these monstrosities that are actually happening and deeply slowing down the modern world. We as a civilization shouldn't be afraid to speak up when we see horrid and inhumane things that are happening.

Lots of cults are run like criminal enterprises. In fact, most modern day sex trafficking and enslavement of young women, children, minors, males, etc. happen because of cults. Cults usually lore in their young predators with promises of gifts, employment, or better "status", and go after the vulnerable. The best victim for a cult's trafficking is someone who has already been emotionally abused or is at a "vulnerable" state of mind.

One such validation of this is the story of former Scientologist Jose Navarro, who talked about how many young female Scientology trainees were forced to have sex or did it as part of a "ritual," would then be forced to have an abortion if they became pregnant. Scientology members were forced to wear black or blue clothes, and cleaned dumpster bins, (sometimes filled w/ aborted babies). Lots of the younger female Scientologist had handlers who acted as pimps and the whole enterprise according to Navarro's book, was actually ran more like a Ponzi-scheme. The FBI, on separate occasions, has even investigated the "Church of Scientology" in the past for alleged sexual trafficking accusations.

Other cults or groups like the "LDS Youth missionary program," or "Freemasonry" have been described or speculated in the past of having some sort of child abuse going on. The sad truth is that in the western world alone, millions of children are commercially victims of sex abuse, and lots of cults have few chapters that would run this sort of slavery on them. The sex trade goes even beyond cults, and in different parts of the world, it can just be plain kidnapping or done through drug trafficking. These so-called "religious groups" are no better than the criminal enterprises who are more open about it. Even though not all "chapters" are fully responsible for all that goes on, few seems to be suspiciously speaking out.

Another monstrosity going on in the modern world is the Arab slave trade is still happening in third world countries. Though it is rumored to have stopped, groups like Boko Haram and the Muslim Brotherhood have still continued to enslave people. Boko Haram have taken young girls as captives to either be raped or sold into slavery. The same with the Muslim Brotherhood, who also kidnapped and tortured Coptic minorities, who have been in the middle of this sort of slave trade as well for centuries. Other horrid violations of human rights include forced marriages of child brides in Yemen, public executions, and racial/ethnic "cleansing."

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
