For those of us who are lucky enough to have siblings, they can arguably be the best friends you ever have in life. After growing up as the third child in a family of four and learning this first hand, here are some reasons on why siblings are the best friends you'll ever have. 

1. They've known you your entire life. 

Literally, they know everything there is to know about you because they've been around since birth. Even for the things we wish no one had to know, your siblings were there all along to witness your most embarrassing moments and therefore know you inside and out and will forever be your oldest friends. 

2. They are the only ones who truly understand just how crazy your family is. 

Sure, everyone claims to have a "crazy family," but really, your siblings are the only ones who can truly understand just how dysfunctional things are at times. 

3. They always have your back. 

Whether it be the bully on the playground, or you're just having a stressful day, your siblings will always be there to listen and offer a shoulder to cry on. They will always stand up for you, and always defend your honor because, after all, you are family.

4. You can always be open with each other. 

They are some of the only people you can be completely and brutally honest with and they will still love you. Whether you're jokingly calling each other dumb, or actually calling each other out for your bullshit, your siblings are obligated to forgive you and get over it. 

5. They are the only people that will be there forever. 

I know it sounds so cliche, but family really is forever. At the end of the day, you can't change who they are and whether you like it or not, they will be around forever.

In the end, your siblings are one of your greatest blessings in life, and are some of the only people that can truly understand who you are, where you came from and where you're going. Don't forget this the next time you take your siblings for granted, because let's be honest; we've all done this at one point or another.
