The first time I heard of "thrift shopping" was in 11th grade from one of my friends, and I was in awe of the fact that she actually bought clothes at the thrift store. After getting over myself, I realized thrifting is for everyone. Today, I probably couldn't live without random thrift store bargains that satisfy my budget and my (believe it or not) expensive taste.
You find odds and ends that you didn't know you needed until you see them.
Bookends, coffee mugs, candlesticks, etc. You name it; it's more than likely at the thrift shop.
Thrifting gives you an opportunity to show your creativity and personality.
It's much more satisfying when you wear your latest thrift store sweater, and someone says "OMG, where did you get that?! Let me guess... J. Crew?!?" and you can say, "Actually, no: thrift store! "
"Vintage, totally adorable." ..but really.
