Why I Share The Gospel

And why we all should

Why I Share The Gospel
Amanda Jayne Sankey

The other day, someone assumed I was a liberal, and I told them that I wasn’t. They found it hard to believe me, because why wouldn’t I be? They thought they could change my mind within a few minutes of time, and told me they intended to do so.

But what they don’t understand is that my opinions won’t change within a few minutes of convincing, or a few years. My opinions are rooted in my faith.

My faith is rooted in Christ.

Through their trying to convince me, I found out several things about this person that my heart just broke for. I vowed that I would keep talking to this person until either I die or they are saved.

This is why I share the Gospel.

This person told me that I was different from the other people. I had been talking to them for five minutes. I had yet to even bring up my faith, and they could tell a difference in me. We are called to be different. We are called to stand out and be seen as different from the rest of the world.

It is very important to share the Gospel to everyone you meet. I believe you can do this through your actions and who you are as a person. If you have Christ in you, you should be intentional in showing Christ through you.

It is also very important to physically share the Gospel to as many people as you can.

The Gospel is the story of Jesus Christ. It is telling the story of God’s love. It is who He is.

All it takes is one person to plant the seed in someone. A kind act can do that. Speaking of God can water that seed. Praying can grow that seed.

Pray, pray, pray.

Pray for the people you are trying to reach. Pray for the people that have yet to be reached. Pray that the Gospel would reach their ears. Pray that their hearts would be softened to hear. Pray that they would come to acceptance.

You can love, you can go tell it on the mountain, you can do everything in your power, but only God can save.

It breaks my heart knowing that there are people that haven’t been saved. There are people walking around dead in sin.

This is why I share the Gospel.

The feeling of God’s love can’t be put into words. It can’t be expressed. It can only be felt. And we shouldn’t close our mouths until everyone in this world knows that feeling. Until everyone in this world has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

I share the Gospel because I want everyone to know Jesus and what He has done for us. I want everyone to know Him and His love. But I also share the Gospel because that is what I am called to do. That is what we are all called to do.

Mark 16:15 “And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.’”

Mathew 28: 19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

This is why I share the Gospel.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
