Why Shaming People Who Play Pokémon Go Needs To End

In a world full of hostility, why create more hate?

So, I hear you are one of the few people in the world who has what you call a "life." It must be so exhilarating to not have to worry about spending time going outside, socializing and playing Pokémon Go because you're too busy spewing mindless hate-filled words on the Internet to validate your insecurities. That may be a "life" to you, but to me it's frankly just sad. The passive aggressive vibes given out by those of you who claim to have this "life" obviously don't realize that many people playing this on-the-go app do have part/full-time jobs, social skills and yes, even boy/girlfriends! How amazing is that?

I don't understand why a few bad apples have to ruin something so beneficial to the majority of people. It seems that whenever something that encourages exercise, socialization and happiness comes out, some hipster jerk has to buck the trending system and hate whatever the new hype is about. I have news for those bad apples: You're not cool, you're not helping and you're definitely the problem. With all the chaos and hostility going around in today's world, is it really so bad to let people go out into the world and play Pokémon Go for a little sweet escape?

With the rise of Pokémon Go, there's certainly been disadvantages. Not all people are going to be smart with the app and I've heard of already a couple incidents involving motor vehicle crashes due to the operator of the vehicle playing Pokémon Go while driving. I don't want to paint a utopian picture of the app's shortcomings, but I've seen more advantages to people playing than disadvantages. For instance, according to Cosmopolitan, Pokémon searches are more popular than porn. THAN PORN. The biggest Internet phenomena is getting less searches than an app that promotes walking and exploring your local communities and socializing with those around you. So tell me again how Pokémon Go is ruining our world and not a billion dollar industry making profit off of adult porn performers, 50 percent of whom, use ecstasy while performing on camera?

In short, what I'm seeing with all this anti-Pokémon Go drama is a lack of understanding and compassion and an equally present double standard. When all of us are on a social media application like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., we are all not participating in what one may consider "life" responsibilities or activities. Most of the people complaining about Pokémon Go do so through an app and have played just as mindless and even less productive games. You shouldn't judge what you don't know about and that includes looking at someone else's life through a microscopic lens and deciding that they don't have your version of a "life." We must remember that having a life and having a good/fun life are not mutually exclusive ideals. Whether you decide to download/play the Pokémon Go app or any app at all, you should be free to do so without others scrutinizing your happiness and life choices. Be yourself and above all, remember that #HatersGonnaHate.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
