Why Your Self-Esteem Matters

We live in a time where we feel like being confident and happy is a bad thing. Taking a nice selfie is seen as vain, talking about your accomplishments is seen as bragging, and so on and so forth. Okay, first of all, if someone is telling you this, ignore them and try to run as far as you can away from them. Your self-esteem does matter, and here's why.

Seek Help!

If you are having trouble with your self-esteem, there is no shame in talking to a therapist. A therapist can help you eliminate the stresses keeping you down, give you marriage advice to help improve your confidence in your marriage or any other relationship, and give you plans to succeed. Even the most confident people need a good therapist, and online therapy can help you with that and much more.

Because Confidence is Power

Confidence is more than just having a good body image. Confidence is when you can look at yourself and realize you can achieve anything. You can win over your date. You can get the job. You can make it to the next day. Confidence goes far, and it's intertwined with self-esteem. If you don't think highly of yourself, you're not going to be confident, and vice versa.

It's Different Than Being Egotistical

Some people mix up self-esteem and being egotistical, but they aren't the same thing. Being egotistical means you can't admit when you were wrong. Someone with high self-esteem is glad to admit when they were at fault and sets an example by correcting their actions.

People who are egotistical think they are better than everyone else. Meanwhile, someone with self-esteem doesn't think they are better than anyone else, as they don't try to compare themselves to others and just work on themselves.

Having High Self-Esteem Doesn't Mean You Can't Be Sad

Some people think that in order to have high self-esteem, they always need to hide behind a smile or be someone who always exerts positive energy. Someone who has high self-esteem can have their bouts of depression or express their emotions. However, they are solution oriented and are confident they can find their way out of any problem life throws their way.

Surrounding Yourself With the Best People

Someone with high self esteem will surround themselves with the people who can lift them up. This doesn't mean surrounding yourself with yes men and women who don't criticize, but it does mean avoiding people who will put you down and reduce your confidence in order to propel themelves up. We should all be working on each other, not trying to get ahead. If your self esteem is suffering, you may want to look at the company you have with you.

Self-Esteem is Good as You Age

You're going to grow older, and you should be mindful of your mental health. One way you can do so is to improve your self-esteem. Being confident and always eager to try something new can help you as you age. Give it a go and see what it can do for you. Chances are, you can be sharp as you get old if you adjust your mindset a little bit.

Rubs Off on Others

If you are always confident and have high self-esteem, it can definitely rub off on your friends or family. For example, your friends and your kids may want to be like you. You can also look here for some cool ways to be more confident. . The latter is especially important. Being a good role model for your kids can influence them by quite a bit. For more information on that, come see.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
