One of my favorite things to do is stay up really late on Friday nights, and then sleep until about 12:30 on Saturday. If you know me, you know that sleep is something I find almost holy. Sleeping in is something I don't get to do very often anymore, but when I do, it's the perfect way to start my Saturday. Then, after sleeping my morning away, Captain Crunch usually awaits me in the kitchen. The next few hours after getting out of bed are always slow. If I'm at my mom's, I sit outside on the back porch, talking to her. If I'm at my dad's, I'm snuggled up on the couch, watching some boy show that my brother refuses to change. Sometimes, I'll walk out on the farm that my family has, and I'll play with the many dogs we have, or I'll even try and ride one of the horses. Saturdays are good for collecting myself after a long week. They are gentle and allow me a nap, if my heart desires it. Even though I love UAH, and I love my friends that keep my sane throughout the week, there is nothing like going home and just having a normal Saturday.
Saturdays are also great for catching up on homework. I usually set a reasonable goal for my studies. Ya know, read ten pages from my Anatomy book, and look over the notes from Psychology. It's never anything too heavy. Of course I never complete the light load that I gave myself. But, isn't it nice to have a goal for the day? I remember when Saturdays were all about Soccer. I would come in, sweaty, my muscles aching, and completely exhausted. I actually miss those Saturdays.
Now that fall is upon us, Saturdays also mean something very important. Football season makes every Saturday like a holiday in my family. Saturday nights are filled with homemade cheese dip, Alabama football, and bonfires for after the game. Saturdays are good to help me relax. School work, sorority responsibilities, and stress get to me. But Saturdays are good for my soul.
