"RuPaul's Drag Race" is one of the most sassiest, amazing, drama filled shows on television. The show is known for creating some of the most iconic moments in television history. When it comes to drag some people see it as men in wigs singing in stage. But since watching Rupaul's Drag Race I now see it as art form. Some of the queens know more about fashion and makeup then most of the women in my life. We also see such incredible stories from these queens who come all over the world. Some queens walk into customized gowns worth tens of thousands of dollars other homemade dresses made out of trash bags.
1. The Fashion
The amount of jaw dropping, stunning outfits in this show is countless. Sometimes the queens will have to make their own costumes or they will strut the runway with something they brought. Sewing is a huge factor in this competition and if you don't know how to sew it clearly shows. This competition is so serious because not only are you the next drag superstar but you are a face for the youth entering drag or the LGBTQ community.
2. The Shade
No tea, no shade, no pink lemonade. The term throwing shade originally came from the drag queen community. Drag queens are known for their fun-loving comedy towards each other (unless you're Courtney Act and get offended over a doll). But anyway you need to defend yourself and your drag family when it comes to throwing shade.
3. The Humor
One of the most anticipated episodes on "RuPaul's Drag Race" is the "Snatch Game," which a mockery of the old show "Match Game." The game consists of the queens impersonating celebrities from the Dame Maggie Smith to Michael Jackson. The celebrities are truing to get a match with the two guest and waiting to see you wins! The episode is filled with some of the best humor I have seen. Each queen brings something different to the table.
4. The Talent
When you have queens coming from every direction you are going to be hit with some of greatest talent ever. Some of the queens are dancers, singers, gymnasts, comedians and even a violinist. With so much talent across the board, it's sometimes hard to see who will go home in the lipsync for your life. When it comes to lipsyncing, it is truly an art form.
5. The Community
The Drag community is so underrated and shows like "RuPaul's Drag Race" show what drag is really like and gives a look inside. RuPaul is making drag more popular and helps everyone see it's not what we think it is, it's so much more. Drag is art and doing drag is pretty fucking cool. It gives people the chance to be something that they're not, to be something they have always wanted to be. With the help from WOW Productions (World of Wonder), RuPaul Charles has created an empire for not just drag queens, but for anyone who enjoys and supports drag and the LGBTQ community.
