Why Running Is Perfect For Everyone
Joshua Hodge

When it comes to running, most people hate talking about it, let alone actually getting up and going for a run. I'm here to tell you that running is one of the most amazing sports on the planet, and you can get in on the excitement! I myself love to go down to my neighborhood track and get a good workout in! I love that amazing feeling you get when finishing a run because it is so satisfying. If you have never gone out for a nice, long run, you are truly missing out on the many advantages the sport can give you!

If you tried to play other sports like football or soccer, you'd not only need the equipment, but you would need a lot of people to play in order to to get an actual game going. Running is a sport that focuses solely on yourself. To go out for a run, the only things you need are clothes, sneakers, and positive energy! Running by yourself is a great way to build character and focus on the task at hand. Whether you are running at a park or just around your block, you will be concentrating on your form and your breathing. Coaching yourself through each workout will help your mental strength, as well. On top of this, you can run at your own pace. No one will be there to tell you to go faster or to keep going if you get tired. How fast you go and how long you run for is completely up to you!

On the other hand, you don't HAVE to go for a run by yourself. Running with a friend, a family member or even a group of people can be a great bonding experience for everyone. You can each help each other get through the run you're on. Encouragement from everyone around you will definitely help boost your confidence. Going on a run with your whole family can make everyone feel more connected and will help everyone get into better shape.

Running is a sport that you can do no matter what the weather conditions are. In rain, snow, sleet or hail, you can go out and get your run in. There is nothing more beautiful than running through a park that is filled with snow and having that cold air hit your face.

Going for a run is a great way to get your mind off of any problems you are having in your life. Being able to go out on your own and clear your mind of anything you are thinking about can really help you ease some of your stress. By the time you finish your run, you might have a different perspective on the problems that you are facing in your life.

Buying a gym membership can be very expensive. Running can be a great alternative to this because you'll be saving money and staying fit at the same time. Depending on if you run every day and for how long, you could get into phenomenal shape. No, you will not be able to lift weights (unless you already have your own at home), but you can definitely do things such as push-ups, sit-ups, and mountain climbers when you finish your run to get into even better shape.

Running is a sport that you can partake in for life. From the day you started walking you have been able to run. You can run on your own time, whenever you want. Once you finish college, the only way you'll be able to play sports such as basketball or soccer is by joining a recreational league (unless you're a professional athlete). They can be pricey and the games may be scheduled at times that don't work for you. As a runner, you can enter races whenever you are available. From 5K's to marathons, you can set your own personal goals for each race you enter.

Running is a sport that takes a great deal of determination and motivation to accomplish your goals. Not only will running make you fitter, but it can help you in many other parts of life. If you don't run already, I suggest you go out and give it a try because you might enjoy it just as much as I do! The real question is: why aren't you running right now?

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
