2016 Presidential Election

Why I Refuse to Vote
Word Press

Me, being a freshman in college, I have never in my entire life seen so many people more concerned with politics. In my personal opinion, I could humbly care less. It's 2016, and we are living in the age of information, everyone that has a phone also has a computer. Personally I guess you could consider me a “conspiracy theorists”, but you would have to know the origin of the term, and also be aware that I could honestly care less. The term “conspiracy theorists” was created after the assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, which is what people were called when they did not believe the US government's official story.

I personally refuse to vote because, casting a simple ballet for a candidate does not, nor has it ever created change. People must understand that voting was never for the average citizen, when the US was first established, only rich white men that owned land were able to vote. Now in the modern-day US everyone that has registered to vote is able to vote, but does their vote count? Let's take into consideration that the electoral college exists, fortune 500 companies donate to politicians, lobbying is legal, and secret societies dominate the political system in the US, and also the fact that 43, out of 44 US presidents are decedents of the English royal family.

The electoral college is the system that chooses the US presidents. Every state has their own amount of electoral votes that is determined by their 2 senators plus however many representatives they have in Congress, for an example, North Carolina has 15 electoral votes, 2 from their 2 senators and 13 from their representatives. In order to win the presidency, a candidate would have to have 270 electoral votes. Ideally, the elected congressional officials would cast its state's electoral votes to whomever won the majority of the populist vote, but only in a perfect world. Sadly, our world is far from perfect, and that your state's congressional officials can decide what candidate gets the votes, not the population, which means that more than likely the electoral votes go towards whichever Presidential nominee shares the same party as those congressional members.

As citizens of the US, we should pay attention to the fact that our political system is severely tainted with lobbying and corporations funding politicians’ political campaigns. No matter what a politician promises during their campaign, they always change their agenda in favor of corporations and billionaires, or wherever the money comes from. In the beginning of Obama’s first presidential campaign, he stated that was against GMOs, genetically modified organisms. Since his presidency, he has not only appointed the former VP of Monsanto, the world's leading producer of GMOs, to the head of the FDA, but has also signed H.R. 933, which included the Monsanto Protection Act. The Monsanto Protection Act forbids the federal government from being able to stop the selling and planting of GMO seeds even if there are health risks. Makes you wonder how many politicians are in bed with corporate leaders.

Many US presidents are and were members of secret societies, including, but not limited to: Skull and Bones, Bohemian Grove, Bilderberg Group, Freemasons, the Committee of 300, and Knight’s Templar. Secret societies have a lot more influence in politics than the public would like to believe, for an example the Bilderberg Group, Bohemian Grove, and the Committee of 300 are all meetings of high-ranking international political figures where it's illegal for the press to be anywhere near the premises of such meetings. In these meetings contain CEOs of multiple corporations and political figures.

Another reason I don't trust voting is that 43 out of 44 US presidents are related, the only one that shares no relation is the 8th president, President Martin Van Buren. From US President George Washington to President Barack Obama, all presidents share a common ancestor, King John Lackland of England. Even in the 2016 presidential election the democratic and republican nominations are related. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are 19th cousins, according to the Washington Times. In my humble opinion, I believe that the candidate with the purer blood becomes the winner.

I don't believe in voting, because the winner is already determined, Hillary Clinton. The public is distracted by Trump, because he is a joke. Trump’s sole purpose is to seem so hateful, that the majority would vote for Hillary, and make it seem as if she is the US’ saving grace, but unfortunately she is just as evil as the ones before her.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
