Gotta catch 'em all, right? Wrong.
First and foremost, I don't blame the game, or the creators for everything that's happened. Don't get me wrong, the original Pokémon game was so much fun. Heck, I even used to play it back when I was a kid. However everything that has happened with the new Pokémon Go is insane, and you know who is to blame for that? The people who play the game.
Everyone says, "Don't knock it till you try it," or, "You can't judge it till you try it". Actually, I can. Why? Because I'm not judging the quality of the game or the "fun-ness" of the game. I'm judging the fact that people have been killed or injured because they were playing the game.
Is the game some sort of hypnotist that makes people forget how to be a human being? When people start getting hurt over a game on a cellphone, don't you think it's becoming more of a hazard than just a fun game?
Don't get me wrong, it's not all bad. I do think it's a great way to get people outside and interacting with other people. The downfall is that you are glued to your phone screen the entire time.
Now since I've never played the game I can't know for certain, but isn't there someway your phone let's you know a Pokémon is near? Like if the game is pulled up on your phone, then doesn't it vibrate or beep when a Pokémon is near? If that's the case then why can't you put your phone in your pocket when you're walking around with your friends and have actual face to face conversation and then just check your phone when it vibrates.
I know what you're thinking, "What if I miss one?"
Well, then you miss one.
Ninety percent of America thinks Pokémon Go is the next best thing since sliced bread, so I could understand why it'd be very important that you don't miss one. But when you're out with your friends, just do me a favor and take a few seconds to stop and smell the roses.
All in all, I don't play the game and don't ever plan to, but if you do play, please use your brain and have a little common sense when you play.
Stay safe, my friends.
