If you're anything like me, you love sitting down, grabbing a snack, and binge watching Disney princess movies. From "The Little Mermaid", to "Mulan", they're all so so good. But honestly, as a child it kind of sucked not having a Disney princess that looked like me. I remember having halloween dress up days at school, and all my friends would be dressed up as Cinderella, or Ariel, or Belle, and they all looked like them too.
Princesses of color are so important. Like me, thousands of little girls all over the country waited so long to have a Disney princess that looked even remotely like them. Representation matters people! Little girls all over the world look up to these Disney princesses whether it be in their movies, or in one of the numerous Disney parks all around the world. Having a princess that looks like you, and shares the same heritage and background as you is something so important.
Disney is paving the way with being more inclusive with characters and movies. They're adding more diverse characters and plot lines to their movies every year. Things like this are so important. Lets keep the inclusivity and diversity train moving forward!
