In the midst of winter, most people like to complain about the horrors that come with the snow. People don't like cold weather that is so brutal it hurts your face. They also aren't fans of the fact that it gets dark almost as soon as the sun comes up. Of course, it's nice to be home for the summer months to be with my family and friends, and it's amazing to have no school for months at a time. With the pros and cons in mind,
I would much rather spend my time digging out my car in 3-feet of snow than spend it in hot, humid weather.
When it's cold, you can at least cover yourself up in as many layers of clothing as you want and no one will judge you. You can cuddle with a boat-load of blankets and wrap yourself up in as much softness as you want. There's delicious hot drinks like hot chocolate, tea, and coffee that can warm you up in almost in instant. When it's hot, there's not really a lot you can do to relieve that gross sweaty state of being. Yes, you can take cold showers and enjoy iced, cold drinks, but ultimately, you're just going to get hot again.
Being a college student during the summer months is also a bit more difficult than being a college student during the winter. When it's summer, you may have a part-time or full-time job, but once you're done with the job for the day, you just go right back home and wither in the dry heat and humidity. For me personally, I get bored extremely easily. There's only so much you can do when you don't have an actual job yet or have school. When it's winter, college students have plenty of things to do. From homework and studying for tests and quizzes to trying to maintain a normal social life to maybe working a part-time job, we have a lot on our plate. There's never really a chance for a college student in the winter months to be bored, since there is always something we need to do.
Summer is boring for college kids.
Hanging out with my family and friends is definitely what makes summer amazing, but is it worth it to suffer in the heat and boredom 90% of the time? Not really.
I actually do not mind gliding down the snow-filled and icy roads. I prefer that any day to getting a severe sunburn from just stepping outside for two minutes in the summer heat.
