Disclaimer: I hereby am not complaining by complaining about people who complain
Has someone ever been going on a rant, meanwhile the whole time you’re thinking “nobody cares?!” Well, recently I discovered an extremely invasive and annoying personality type: the complainer. This is the person that quite literally communicates through ranting. It’s all they know how to do. They always find something to complain about and treat every issue they encounter as the end of the world.
Don’t get me wrong, we all have problems. But that’s just it; since we’re all going through something, it’s not okay for people to act like their issues are ten times worse than everyone else’s.
There is a huge difference between venting and complaining. Friends vent to each other, feel sympathetic for one another, and provide the best advice possible. I mean, let’s be real, I couldn’t live without my support system. I’m not talking about the 99 percent of people who vent to their friends in a time of need. No, I’m talking about the 1 percent of people who never fail to strike up a conversation with the thing pissing them off most at the moment.
Complainers usually go on their rants when no one signified that they want to listen. Not only are these rants unwarranted, but they tend to last forever! After all, a complainer is passionate about each and every one of their issues, no matter how miniscule.
If you are someone that surrounds yourself with a complainer, seriously, kudos. It takes a lot of patience to open up those ears to such negativity.
If you are the complainer, I beg of you to think twice before spreading negativity to those around you. I assure you, we all hate the current candidates, wish we had higher bank accounts, suffer alcohol induced headaches on Sunday mornings, want “bae” to text back, and would kill to lose weight without stepping foot in the gym.
So, to all the complainers of the world, pick and choose! Just because something pisses you off, doesn’t mean these complaints always have to be vocalized. Your friends are probably happy to make you feel better when something is wrong, but don’t lose your credibility. If you’re complaining about something 24/7, no one will know when your real problems arise.
