1. Discounts

When you get your student card in a Paris university, it becomes your key to the city. This card leads to free entry to all art and history museums, which is truly a beautiful gift. This means that trips to le louvre, musée l’orangerie, centre pompidou, and many many more can be something you do for the evening before closing hours, or maybe for a few hours in the morning. You never have to feel guilty with a short trip since it was free! Your Paris student card will also get you in for free for viewing decks such as the top of l’arc de triomphe and the top of Notre Dame, this leads to endless possibilities for you and your university friends. This is something students must take advantage of!

2. The history

It’s so hard to walk around Paris and not be immersed in the vast history that lives on every corner. As a student, this will factor into your life and activities on a daily basis. Imagine taking a course of French history, studying the kings, and then being able to see their living quarters in Versailles, and Fontainebleau both an easy trip from the city center. Or learning about the history of France’s wars and conquerors and seeing markings of those very battles or victories like l’arc de triomphe, la bastille, and many more.

3. The great people who have lived there

Paris has attracted many greats throughout centuries of history. This includes great writers, artists, and celebrities. Following the tracks of your idols is easy when Paris is full of museums for their houses, such as Victor Hugo, Claude Monet in close proximity of Paris, and many more. Imagine studying the writing or artwork of your art or literary idol and then seeing what his view was every morning, where he got his inspiration, his muse, and how he lived his life. Beyond that, there are beautiful and extensive cemeteries filled with hundreds of people who reach so many branches of studies. Visiting the graves of these greats such as Georges Méliès, Oscar Wilde, Eugene Ionesco, Edith Piaf, Simone de Beauvoir, and countless more is a very common thing to do, make sure to pick up a map at the entrance, or look into tours that are offered there, or else you’ll find yourself wandering for a long time (even though that was still fun for me)!

4. Fashion

Paris is an amazing location for fashion students since it hosts one of the largest fashion weeks in the world. During this time period, it won’t be hard to hang out around where the events are taking place and see some models and the looks for the season. Even for those not studying fashion, this is an important part of aesthetics and culture that becomes key to the richness of Parisian daily life.

5. The Universities

The schools and universities in Paris city center are prestigious and renowned. Paris is home to the Université Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne, Université Paris-Sorbonne IV, école Polytechnique, Paris Descartes, and many more. Having any of these schools under your experience on a resume, as either a foreign or local student, will do wonders for your abilities to further your education or your work.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

Great Value Colleges

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.
