7 Reasons OU Is Way Better Than OSU

Wait, excuse me, I meant THE OSU.

7 Reasons OU Is Way Better Than OSU
Me

OK, so just because I go to Ohio University doesn't mean I'm biased, right? Nah. I just completely and totally believe that OU is 100 percent better than OSU. And here's why:

1. We don't love our school just because we have a famous football team.

I understand we don't, and I'm glad we don't. Because if we did everyone would believe that we just came to OU for the title of the football team. I don't care what any OSU students say, a huge portion of why they went there is because their football team is such a big deal. But really, how many of you actually play?

2. "THE" Ohio State University... are you kidding?

You can put the word "the" before any title, but what does it really mean? Exactly. What does it change? Absolutely nothing. It's just another reason why OU is better than OSU, we don't need the title "the" to be proud of our school. We just are. Oh, and I'm pretty sure no one refers to OSU as tOSU, why? Because that just looks stupid. So why say it?

3. We aren't in the middle of a huge, busy, crowded city.

Columbus is known for so many things, OSU being one of them. Athens is known for one thing: OU. Now I don't know about you, but having my own private little college town is pretty damn exhilarating. We're by far the best and most important aspect of the city. The city is ours, what can I say?!

4. We're a cute little college town.

Feeding onto number 3, we really are! We have cute little dinners, hole in the wall restaurants to stop by and grab a bagel, amazing hills that you can look out at the whole city. What does Columbus have? Just a whole bunch of cranky people piled into one city.

5. You can easily find a way to stand out at OU.

Being a smaller public college, it is much easier to find your niche and find a way to become recognized at OU. OSU has around 65,000 students, while OU has about 28,000. Still big and enough people to have a whole lot of fun, but not too overwhelming. Whether it's in theater, sports, academics... at OSU you'll be lucky to even figure out what you want to do with your life. At OU, you'll figure it out. And you'll do it. And more than likely, you'll succeed.

6. Everyone is so much more welcoming!

Found a random house party and wanna stop by? Do it wherever, whenever at OU. Good luck finding a single place that is inviting random visitors in at OSU. To my knowledge, getting into a house party at OU is much easier than even finding a house party at OSU. And we all already know where the parties are more fun.

And last but not least...

7. We are a FAMILY.

We don't all just pretend to love each other when our football team wins a game. We can find anything to bond over from professors, to classes, to streets, to bars. I can't even count the amount of people who had the same Communications professor as I did (and, of course, loved him!) But that's just what I mean, being in a smaller college town full of people who are there for three things: loving their classes, loving their fun and most importantly, loving their school.

OU, oh yeah!

Being single can be great and awful at the same time. Yeah, it's awesome to have time to yourself to figure out who you are and make your own decisions. It would also be nice to have someone to go through life with, but it needs to be the right person. I haven't found that person yet and here's a few reasons why.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.
